Light Fest -- by Joe Gallegos

The night was quite brisk
The whole town was there
We'd come to see how
This production would fair

The band played a carol
The scouts marched in time
The twirlers delighted
And the price...not a dime!

They primped, and they prodded
For the kids to join in
On the floats, dressed in costume
Decorations of tin

It's not Macy's on feast day
Nor the Rose Bowl parade
Just our own little town
Puffed in pride, all homemade

So while corporate connivers
Spend those millions to see
Their brand names splashed all over
Your color TV
We'll instead join with neighbors
Side by side, filled with glee
For another fine evening
Of lighting the tree
