An update on the status of the Capitol Corridor's initiative to obtain right of way for the trackage which runs parallel to the BART from Union City to Niles (the Oakland Subdivision) was given during a Dumbarton Rail Policy Advisory Committee Meeting to be held on Friday 18 December 2009.
The written report and a set of PP slides used by the Capitol Corridor official to make the presentation are found on this page.
In summary the Capitol Corridor staff talked about the plan and cost to negotiate the acquisition of Oakland subdivision with UPRR. It will take them 12-15 months to complete negotiations. In the meantime, Cap. Corridor will be applying for federal funds to buy the corridor and increase passenger service between San Jose and Oakland using the Oakland subdivision.
