"The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini. (2 replies)
I have just finished reading a really wonderful book that I would like to recommend.  It's called "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini.  It's a story mainly about two Afghani boyhood friends and how the Russian invasion of Afghanistan, amongst other experiences, affect their lives forever.  It's a first novel by this author and it's the most gripping, interesting, and heartfelt novel I might have ever read.  The emotions of guilt, duty, honor, redemption, and love are woven expertly throughout.
I'm happy to lend out my copy to the first person who requests it.

Khaled Hosseini was our family doctor until he took his leave of absence recently to continue writing.  He is a really wonderful doctor and man, and we miss him as our family doctor.

I would also highly recommend it. I found it to be fascinating and also insightful regarding the experiences of
a segment of our local community. A very good read for everyone, especially those in Fremont.
